Bold & biased as this might seem, this pattern has out-fished & out-caught many well known favourite patterns in both fresh & salt water situations. Use of a no-slip loop knot adds a lot more action.

For a top of the water attack use a floating line, then strip and pause until you see the fly again at the surface. The fly has a slow wobble back to the surface drives fish nuts. Tied correctly, this is the only true riding wiggle minnow available.

Strip as fast as you want and it won't roll over. That’s why it's very effective on sink tip lines. Use about 4 feet of straight flouro to get to the correct depth.

One of the most productive flies there is, I know that this statement is bold and biased, but its true. It has caught just about every thing that swims in salt and freshwater.
