KAUFMANN'S KRYSTAL STIMULATOR

The stimulator is one of the most important flies designed during the 20th century. Randall Kaufmann designed this fly so that it can be a specific imitation as an attractor. This is a fly that does it all.

We use this fly for virtually everything, caddis, hoppers, stone-flies & as a sight fly with a nymph dropper tied to the bend of the hook, New Zealand style.

ADULT DAMSEL

Okay so we've all heard those stories of the one away stories. Here's one of those stories that really happened.

Adult damsels were flying everywhere at my local still-water.This was the day before we received our sample batch of flies, from the tying house.

I put this adult damsel on my leader and and cast out. The fly hits the water and bang ! A real damsel started mating with the artificial one. 10 seconds later it all ends in disaster (as most short term relationships do) . By being caught in the mouth of a 5 and a half pound rainbow.

*NEW* HORSFALL'S ADULT DAMSEL

This pattern originated whilst fishing the Cotswold fishery, Lower Moor. The hatches there were so prolific, that there were times it was difficult to see across the 17 acre water.

After trialling several ideas, this one came up well ahead of the rest. It sits in rather than on the film so it's easy to "suck in".

The detached body is durable, but it's also very soft & flexible so, unlike many other patterns, it doesn't push the fly away when being taken.

The other materials used in its construction are there to either help support the fly and/or help give a reasonable imitation of the natural.
